TRACEY OLSEN
THERAPEUTIC PILATES
Tracey began her Physical Therapy career in 2004 and later became a classically certified Pilates instructor in 2016. It was after a decade of serious injuries and concussions that she found Pilates to help heal and stabilize her body from chronic pain and constant re-injury. Tracey provides a unique approach combining years of experience in a Physical Therapy setting with the principles of Pilates providing a comprehensive approach. Personal experience with injuries gifted Tracey with a deeper understanding and empathy for the physical and mental challenges that come with injury and limitation. Many of her clients have multiple co-morbidities that require modification and adaptation to preserve current function and prevent further decline. Tracey specializes in teaching foundational principles of posture, alignment, balance and gait with emphasis on client education to help the client better care for their bodies and improve overall functional living.
Therapeutic Pilates is a specialized form of Pilates that addresses physical impairments and comorbidities from injury, surgery, neurological disorders or any imbalances that restricts normalized movement patterns. Tracey uses her experience in Physical Therapy to assess efficiency of joint mechanics, compensatory patterns and weaknesses contributing to pain and chronic patterning.
Therapeutic Pilates is gentle, slow and modifications are made to work with the body exactly where it is in the present moment, and not where it was in the past. Client education is emphasized to help with self-management and importance of implementing principles and concepts learned during the session.
Clients will learn and work with Classical Pilates principles of Concentration, Control, Centering, Precision, Breathe and Flow.
Feel free to check out her website to learn more about her concierge offerings outside of the Pilates studio including Aquatic Therapy, Private Therapeutic Exercise Instruction and Pilates.
